Some ancient Javanese manuscripts contain events that are closely related to the study of Falak Science. Most of these events are described in literary texts, which are characterized by hyperbole and seem to be a “myth”. As stated in Babad Jaka Tingkir. There is a story about Sunan Kalijaga determining the Qibla direction of the Great Mosque of Demak in a miraculous way. People see it with a narrow and literal perspective without considering other aspects such as the intelligence of the character being told. It is interesting to do a deeper analysis of the Babad to see the possibility that Sunan Kalijaga determined the Qibla of the Great Mosque of Demak using scientific methods, so that the method used can be known. This research uses a qualitative method to comprehensively explore the implicit content of Babad Jaka Tingkir with a philological approach formulated specifically by Nancy Florida. It was found that Nancy K. Florida, saw that the depictions in Babad Jaka Tingkir were hyperbolic and philologically suspect. Thus, it needs to be reinterpreted by considering historical and scientific aspects. Fairuz Sabiq had previously conducted a search for scientific evidence which then concluded that Sunan Kalijaga basically determined the direction of the Great Mosque of Demak using a scientific method, and used the Rashdul Qiblah method.
